No tour of Edinburgh is complete without a stop at St Giles’ Cathedral.

All groups of over 5 people need to book in advance of arriving at the Cathedral.

This is a simplified list – for further detail, please check our terms and conditions below.
Step One: You submit a group visit request form from our website (right side of this webpage). Completing this form alone is not a confirmed booking.
Step Two: Our Groups Coordinator will check those dates against our calendar. If the date and time are available, you will receive a confirmation email. If your visit cannot be booked in, you will receive an email notifying you of this.
To ensure your group gets the best visit to St Giles’ Cathedral you should book your group in. As a functioning church we do have to close in order to hold services, by booking in, we can make sure that your visit does not clash with any of these planned closures. We can also prioritise access to the Thistle Chapel as part of your groups’ visit.
We will always turn away any unbooked groups.

To ensure you get the most out of your visits, groups may book between the following times:
Mon - Friday:
Morning visiting: 10:00am - 11:00am
Afternoon visiting: 12:30am - 17:00pm.
Saturday:
All Day: 9:00am - 16:00pm
Sunday:
Afternoon Visiting: 13:00pm - 16:00pm
